Elizabeth Kirk (1852-1929)

Elizabeth Kirk was born in 1852 in Mattersey. After moving to nearby Rotherham, she had an illegitimate son in 1870 and then married George Blackett later that year. Assistant letter carrier GPO

On the 1901 census, 14-year-old Louisa Howlett was an ‘assistant letter carrier GPO’ and listed as living with Mary Ann Crow [née Markwell]. Louisa’s relationship to Mary is described as ‘companion’. Why was John Nelthorpe at this marriage?

Mary Fuller (1825-1855) married William Johnson in Methwold (Norfolk) on 23 June 1849. One witness was John Nelthorpe. I presume that this was John Nelthorpe (1770-1858). His son, my 4 x great grandfather James Nelthorpe (1796-1884), married Elizabeth Roberts (1799-1871) of Methwold in 1821 in Mundford.
